Volunteer Opportunities in Nigeria

Voice for Africa Development Initiative embarked on educating, enlightening and creating awareness on Drugs and Substances misuse to adolescent, youth and their parents in our community, schools and religion Institutions. From our finding we noticed that many young people of school age usually engage in crime and violence. This made the VAD Initiative team probe further to why youth and adolescent get involved in crime and violence. From the survey carried out by our volunteers in states of Abuja, Ebonyi, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Edo, Benue, Nasarawa and Adamawa we found out that the crime and violence perpetuated by young person is as a results of the Drugs and Substances misused. i.e Indian hemp, codine, marijuana, alcohol, pit laterine etc. We know that embarking on this enlightenment and awareness campaign will reduce the effect of crime and violence in our community thereby reducing Drugs and Substances misuse by young adults and adolescent. During the campaign we talked about "The truth about drugs", "The Untold Truth about Drugs and Substances misuse" how they are been lured into taking and misusing substances and why they need to say "NO" to Drugs and Substances Misused This made VAD Initiate have partnership with Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Secondary Education Board (SEB), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Orientation Agency ( NOA) and National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
